Left SS 76 (exit Genga), continue along the road in direction to Sassoferrato and arrive at S.Vittore delle Chiuse. Here you may park your car (it is recommended to visit the paleo-speleological museum) and walk for a few miles toward the train station FFSS. Immediatley before the bridge over the Sentino and behind the hotel of the baths, firstly take the white road on the right, and then take the little path on the left that leads uphill to a grassy crest. Then move southwards until you reach a pinewood. Here the path moves uphill quite a distance. When you are arrived at a small meadow, walk on till you reach a rocky surface. If you go up following the rocky wall and then walk down through a small gorge, you will discover a charming landscape. Walk on following the rocky path. After going through a short stretch of wood you will find a small clearing filled with red junipers. The peak you may see from this position is the top of Valmontagna. Go on till the end of the wood and reach an old farmhouse where it is possible to drink some fresh water from a spring. From this point on, you may go uphill to the top of Vallemontagna. To come back follow the opposite course.
Not recommended in the summertime
