Description

Park your car in Piazza Garibaldi, go along Corso Mazzini for about 200 meters up to the big staircase that leads to G. Leopardi park. After 50 meters, take the paved road on the left that leads up to Monte della Croce (signed), at 650 meters above sea level. The whole mount is covered with many, different woody species; conifers is what you may mostly find, even if in the barest areas native species such as durmasts, ilexes and hornbeams have been recently restored. In the meadows it is possible to admire a great variety of colours thanks to the new peopling of smoke-trees, brooms and junipers. A wonderful sight may be enjoyed from the top of Monte della Croce. From the mentioned mount you may then reach the top of another mount (Monte della Guardia), by passing through a small valley. The path that links both the mounts may be covered both by car and on foot
The valley is about 300 meters wide. Past a brief stretch of road uphill, before reaching a pine meadow, leave the largest path and take the smaller one on the left, which is marked by two pines. The small path goes up north-eastwards and leads to the top of a steep slope where, if you take a look northwards, you will enjoy some views of Arcevia. Go straight on for about 400 metres. Then the path starts bending to the right and if you are very attentive you may get a glimpse of squirrels, wild boars and a of many species of birds. Go on walking down the main path south-eastwards to the valley of Fosso dell’Acquasanta which is the first part of River Misa. Go downhill on a winding road and, once arrived about at the half of the slope, take the path that gets into a large road closed to traffic in the neighbourhood of an old red-stoned house called Casa la Romita (496 meters a.s.l.)
Go straight on north-eastwards for about 500 meters and you will a fencing which marks the beginning of the land belonging to Villa Pianetti. Skirt the fencing up to an unpaved road. From here on it is easy to go up to the old town centre of Arcevia.
